Did you know that Australia is part of South America?

Tomorrow the Socceroos play the first of their qualifying legs in Montevideo, Uruguay, to make the 2006 Soccer World Cup.

The Aussie team are hoping for at least a 1-1 game, with the second leg to be played 11,877 km away in Sydney.

Uruguay are $1.60 favourites to beat Australia, and Brazilian star Ronaldo as warned the Aussies about Uruguay's intimidation tactics;
"The South American players, the Argentines and the Uruguayans in particular use more gamesmanship and always try to provoke their opponents into losing their temper and getting a red card,"

"When the ball is up the other end of the field, they kick you from behind, they insult your mother, they try to provoke you."

Here's hoping that the new coach of the Socceroos, Guus Hiddink who has introduced new styles of play to the team such as playing with three at the back at the start of the game, and then switching to a flat-back four with one man less in the midfield as the flow of the match demands, can help our Aussie guys to a win!

The fiasco of kick-off time..
Ok, Uruguay changed the kick-off time from 6pm to 9pm to stuff up the Aussie team because that way the Australians couldn't fly out until the next international flight - the next morning, while Uruguay was going to book a charter flight and fly out straight after the match, gaining valuable time in Australia to acclimatize. That is until Australia got news of the idea, and booked the charter flight before the Uruguayan team could.. so now Uruguay are left sitting around for the international flight the next morning, while Australia can fly back immediately! So what does Uruguay do? change the kick-off time back to 6pm!
