Can you imagine that a 20-year old and a 23-year old who met online in 2006 in a cricket ground (WACA) fan group on Orkut would still be in love today?
A lot of things can happen in 5 years!
H. moved jobs from Pune to Chennai to the Netherlands to Chandigarh and finally coming to study his Master's degree in Australia, easily finding work, starting a cricket team.
Myself starting university studies, moving to the city, university college dorms and away from my family for the first time ever, travelling on a plane for the first time and travelling overseas, getting my first post-uni job teaching at uni, moving to the city and renting a house!
Living thousands of kilometres apart and on different timezones for 3 years.
Living 50 steps apart at neighbouring colleges for 4 months.
Living 250km away from each other for another 1.5 years.
Finally as of mid-March this year living only 45 minutes apart and in the same city too!
It is beautiful to realise that...
...we've both stuck with each other through some really hard times and made it to 5 years.
... we are both more in love today than we have been in the past 5 years.
... the person we knew and loved online is in fact surpassed by the person who exists in "real life"
... H. is totally committed to our love being pure and true AND he treats me like a princess every.single.day!
... we are STILL saving our FIRST KISS for our wedding day! (5 years down! that's some commitment!).
...we are ready to get married.. in my opinion more so than most couples who are now engaged to be married. This is often extremely hard on both of us. We have been in love so long, as so ready to get married and still things need to be worked out with our parents. Thank God though, we are getting very close now.
...we are both terribly excited about getting married because we'll be able to meet each other more often! Even when we are in the same city we get to meet twice a week maximum.
... we want to have children sooooon. I always dream about how cute they are going to be.
... we both cannot imagine life without the other person. They are exactly what we dreamed of in a husband/wife. In fact, lots more than one could ever dream!
Dearest H. Happy 5 years in love! We aren't married yet as both of us often predicted around the 2.5 year mark, but we are getting there and more in love than ever. Hang in there sweetie pie.. the harder you try, the more things are worth it! xoxox. Mary

(unsolicited advice from Mary): Take the time to find that one person who truly makes your life wonderful. Who treats you like a princess (doesn't spoil you, but respects and honours you), who would never make you do anything your parents would disapprove of, and who promises to love and cherish you forever). True love waits. True love is worth it!
